Jan, director of Early Childhood Education, lives with her husband, Dale, in Minnetonka. Her daughter, a St. David's Center alum, lives in New Hampshire. She likes to travel and read, and looks forward to doing both as she steps down from her leadership role in December.

Then & Now: Marie (Herwig) Mazwi
 With older sisters already in elementary school, a young Marie insisted on also going to school, so her parents enrolled her at St. David's Center. Her mom, Anne, remembers Marie being a very intuitive girl - always picking up on how other people felt. When Marie had a hearing impaired teacher, Marie didn't see her disability.
Today, fueled by an interest in children and a strong belief in education, Marie, 28, co-founded Just Like You, International Sports Exchange in Los Angeles - a nonprofit organization  that uses sports and games from around the world to help elementary school kids become global citizens. "We believe that by introducing our youth to the world through play at an early age, they will have sustained interest about the world around them as they grow," explains Marie. "Our program plants the seeds necessary for them to be the future global leaders we need them to be."
Currently working on her Masters of Public Administration from the University of Southern California, with a focus on Nonprofit Policy and Management, Marie is sure to make a difference in many lives.
